Branding for Emergency Medical Device
Project Year: 2020
Situation
In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic was exploding all around the globe. The strain on infrastructure and equipment had reached an international crisis and medical professionals were in particular need of ventilators. A group of biomedical engineers in the San Francisco Bay Area had come together to design a rapidly-manufacturable emergency ventilator. They required assistance in creating a cohesive brand for their product.
The Challenge
With unprecedented time constraints, the team needed a cohesive branding package —yesterday.
Approach
We identified the core components of the branding package that the organization needed:
- Logo
- Website
- Social Profiles
- Media Kit
- Product Indications Packet
In order to expedite the process, I leveraged my international design network. We took advantage of time zone differences to work around the clock to identify the brand identity, develop and review copy, and finalize design.
Impact
- Created a brand identity and corresponding deliverables in less than 72 hours
- Delivered branding package at 10% of the average cost of similar projects
- Ensured cohesive brand presentation that followed regulatory guidelines despite time constraints

Pulmologic
Emergency Medical Device Project
Pulmologic was a startup that sprung up during the initial weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic. The startup rallied a group of engineers specialized in biomedical manufacturing to help in the efforts to develop affordable, scalable emergency ventilators. The startup disbanded upon an updated needs assessment that demonstrated a decreased need for ventilators in emergency response efforts.
I joined Pulmologic to assist with the development of the startup’s brand and corresponding materials.
